Having finalised their preparations for France 2018 in Austria, the Falconets gaffer says they are prepared to challenge for the world title

Head coach of Nigeria U20 women team, Christopher Danjuma has revealed that his side are ready to compete for glory at the U20 Women’s World Cup kicking off in France.

The Falconets finished as runners-up at Germany 2010 and Canada 2014 editions and are hoping to raise the bar this time, having won five and drew one to qualify for the ninth edition in France.

In their preparations, the team concluded their pre-tournament friendlies in Austria, with 3-0 and 4-0 victories over women topflight sides - FC Bergheim and FC Wacker Innsbruck respectively.

And since completing their strategies for the World Cup, the former acting Super Falcons gaffer is impressed with the mentality and preparedness of his team ahead of the age-grade competition.

The tactician insists his ladies have the potentials and strength to hold their own against the best teams in France.

“I can categorically say that my wards are ready because they really showing the mentality needed for the competition after friendlies here [in Austria],” Danjuma told Goal.

“They are showing great depth with their ability to be tactically flexible, which is a good sign in itself. Their level of concentration and mental alertness in ball transition both in defending and attacking has tremendously improved.

“I believe God’s willing, this is a team that will be getting stronger and better with every match. We are a modest people that let the good work God is helping us achieve speak for the team.

“The mentality and great team spirit excite me a lot as regards going beyond the past achievements and the desire to express their potentials and making a mark in the history of time.”

The African giants are expected to arrive the hosts' nation on Thursday, August 2, 2018 and will be eyeing a winning start at the event against Maren Meinert’s ladies in Saint Malo on August 6.

They will continue their bid against debutants Haiti at the same venue three days later before wrapping up their group stage ties against China in Dinan-Lehon on August 13, 2018.
