As Mamelodi Sundowns continue to play catch up in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) games are coming in thick and fast, but after failing to leapfrog Bidvest Wits on Saturday, they have another bite at the cherry.
This time, Sundowns return home to Loftus Versfeld Stadium where they host a gutsy Cape Town City.
The Citizens are keen on making a name for themselves as the ambitious club also hold league title aspirations.
This throws up a bit of a conundrum for Pitso Mosimane and his man as City have been known to be bogey team of Sundowns in the past.
Nonetheless, with Sundowns having registered just one defeat in the league all season, against AmaZulu, the Tshwane giants will be confident heading into the clash with the league’s top spot firmly in their sight.

Just two points separate Sundowns and the Wits, which is likely to see Mosimane take nothing for granted and field a strong line-up.
While Sundowns opted for a more conservative approach on the weekend, against Wits it is expected to be a completely different ball game.
Playmaker and the club’s top assists provider with four, Gaston Sirino, is expected to return to the starting XI after he did not feature in the draw against Wits, while Emiliano Tade may also tempt the Sundowns technical team be given a show upfront.
However, it is at the back where Sundowns’ technical team will be most concerned.
Wayne Arendse will miss the match after his red card against Wits, meaning that Rivaldo Coetzee could be drafted in.
Another concern is the fact that Denis Onyango was forced to come off towards the end against Wits and he is expected to miss the clash, opening the spot for either Reyaad Pieterse or Kennedy Mweene to take over.
Meanwhile, on the side of City changes are to be expected after their hard-fought 3-2 win over Maritzburg United.
While McCarthy is likely to keep the core of his team, he could choose to field Siphelele Mthembu for the clash as the forward is the club’s top scorer with seven goals this season.
Mthembu could thrive on the support of Gift Links, who along with Bradley Ralani are the club’s leading creative masterminds.
City have lost just two of their last 14 game this season in all competitions as they head into their eighth meeting with Masandawana.
Of which Sundowns have been victorious on just three occasions which does throw up a feisty but intriguing showdown between the two sides.
