Mamelodi Sundowns sign Muhammad Carrim from Bidvest Wits

According to the club, the 17-year-old defender will continue his development in the Sundowns MDC team this season

Mamelodi Sundowns have acquired the services of another young promising centre-back in Muhammad Carrim from Bidvest Wits.

The 17-year-old will play for the Brazilians’ Multichoice Diski Challenge team this season, the club said.

The signing of Carrim from Wits and Tristan Moses (20) from Kaizer Chiefs is a clear indication that coach Pitso Mosimane is not only looking to enjoy success right now but also building a good team for the future.

Sundowns took to their social media platforms to unveil Carim as their player.

Carrim had a stellar campaign with Wits during the 2018 Future Champions tournament where he played an integral part in helping his side reach the semi-Finals.

The youngster was named player of the tournament in the AmaZulu FC Metro Cup 2016. He had been with the Wits academy for three years.

The promising centre-back started playing for Wits Under-17 at a tender age of 15. He also captained the Wits U15 side following his arrival from AmaZulu at a very young age.

Sundowns were also in the market for a younger goalkeeper, but they decided to sign former Kaizer Chiefs shot-shopper, Reyaad Pieterse (26) from SuperSport United instead of Ajax keeper Brandon Petersen.
