Orlando Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids has explained why their upcoming match against Mamelodi Sundowns is not a PSL title decider.

The two Gauteng giants are set to lock horns in a top-of-the-table clash at the Mecca of South African football, Orlando Stadium on Monday.

Bucs are currently placed third on the league standings - three points behind the leaders Sundowns with both teams having played 23 matches.

“The next game is not a title decider because there are still 18 points to play for," Davids told the media.

"We can’t say it’s a title decider, that will be disrespecting Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City and SuperSport United," the retired striker continued.

Fourth-placed Cape Town City are level on points with Pirates, who have a game in hand with the race for this season's league title set to intensify.

Furthermore, SuperSport United are placed fifth on the PSL standings, four points behind the defending champions Sundowns.

"I think the title race will be decided on the last day of the season, and not this game,” the former Manning Rangers and HP Silver Stars player concluded.

Pirates and Sundowns played to a goalless stalemate in a league clash which was played at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium earlier this season.

Bucs will be hoping to defeat the Brazilians at home for the first time since 2011.
