The squad of Scottish Premiership side Dundee United are bracing for comprehensive wage cuts and deferrals, according to the BBC. 

The newly promoted side have suffered greatly with the financial problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic, although owner Mark Ogren has ruled out redundancies.

Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes has called on the Reds to complete a move for Dayot Upamecano, suggesting that the centre-back might be the answer to their defensive problems. 

Upamecano, 22, has become one of the highest-rated young defenders in world football in recent seasons thanks to his exploits with RB Leipzig. 

He particularly impressed in 2019-20, playing a huge part in the club's historic run to the Champions League semi-finals with his commanding performances at the back.

Leicester City are set to offer non-league striker Jacob Wakeling a professional contract, according to Leicestershire Live. 

The 19-year-old was released by West Bromwich Albion in the summer but has impressed at Alvechurch and on trial at the Foxes.

Liverpool are keeping an eye on IFK Norrkoping midfielder Isak Bergmann Johannesson, according to Expressen.

The midfielder has earned interest from Manchester United and Juventus, with the Premier League champions becoming the latest team to scout the youngster.

Johannesson, 17,  plays for Iceland Under-21s.

Summer signing Gareth Bale is set to make a second start for Spurs, says Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United sent a scout to watch Dayot Upamecano as they target the defender for a transfer, reports Bild.

The Red Devils' scouts took in a recent match between RB Leipzig and Nurnberg as they keep a close eye on the defender.

Man Utd are set to face RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

AC Milan executive Ivan Gazidis says that he expects the club to chase "the best talent in the world" in January as the Italian giants look to build on a strong start to the Serie A campaign.

Milan lead Serie A with 13 points through five games, inspired in no small part by six goals in three appearances from January addition Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

They currently sit two points ahead of second-place Napoli and four points ahead of reigning champions Juventus, who currently sit in fifth place.

Following several down years, Milan appear to be pushing towards a return to Italy's elite, as the club looks to finally compete for a Serie A crown once again.

Burnley are set to be taken over in a deal worth £200 million, according to the Mirror. 

Egyptian businessman Mohamed El Kashashy has signed an agreement with the Premier League club and now must pass the league's owners and directors test in order to make the purchase official.

#MNUFC has signed Sam Gleadle from Reno 1868, sources tell The Athletic. The versatile Englishman can play any of the wide positions and is seen as a potential #USL Best XI honoree (2g/3a in 16 apps at LB).

Donny van de Beek's troubles at Manchester United are down to the club's poor recruitment policy over the summer, according to Owen Hargreaves.

Van de Beek opted to continue his development at Old Trafford at the start of September after months of speculation over his future, having also been strongly linked with Real Madrid.

United forked out an initial fee of £35 million ($45m) to sign the Netherlands international from Ajax, where he had firmly established himself as one of the most talented midfielders in European football.

West Brom want Matheus Pereira to sign a new contract, even though he joined the club just two months ago, says The Telegraph.

The 24-year-old winger spent last season on loan at the Baggies before joining on a permanent basis in August.

His current deal runs until 2024, but the Premier League side want to give him a lucrative new deal.

M'Baye Niang hopes to leave Rennes in January and Genoa are leading the race to sign him, Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Serie A side tried to bring the 25-year-old striker back to Italy in September but failed to reach an agreement with Rennes.

They could return for him in the next transfer window but will still have to pay a substantial fee for the ex-AC Milan attacker, whose contract runs until 2023.

Ex-England assistant Beverly Priestman has been appointed manager of the Canada women's national team.

Priestman was named Phil Neville's No 2 in 2018 and helped his England side progress to the FIFA Women's World Cup semi-finals a year later, where they were beaten 2-1 by the United States.

Leicester have submitted an offer for ex-West Brom striker Jacob Wakeling - according to Football Insider.

The 19-year-old was released by the Baggies at the end of his contract in June before joining non-league outfit Alvechurch on a free transfer.

Wakeling impressed enough with the Worcestershire outfit to earn a trial at Leicester, who have now offered him a permanent contract at the King Power Stadium.

Juventus are keen on negotiating another swap deal with Barcelona - according to Tuttosport.

Arthur and Miralem Pjanic traded places over the summer, and the Old Lady are hoping to broker a similar agreement to sign Ousmane Dembele.

Red Devils preparing five-year contract for AC Milan star

Manchester United are lining up a bid for AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Rossoneri hope to renew the Turkey international's contract before it expires at the end of the season, but he could be lured to England instead as the Red Devils are ready to offer him a five-year deal.

Ex-Brazil striker Alexandre Pato is the subject of interest from Birmingham City - according to Calcio Mercato.

The 31-year-old has been without a club since leaving Sao Paulo in August, and the Blues are eager to snap him up on a free transfer.

Pato took in a short loan stint at Chelsea in 2016, and scored 10 goals in 27 games for Brazil at the height of his career.

Lyon are ready to offer Antoine Griezmann a way out of Barcelona - according to El Chiringuito.

The French outfit are prepared to offer Memphis Depay to the Blaugrana in exchange for Griezmann, who is struggling for form at Camp Nou.

West Brom boss Slavan Bilic has expressed his disappointment after the club sold defender Ahmed Hegazi against his wishes.

The 29-year-old joined Saudi side Al-Ittihad on Sunday, with Bilic unhappy at the sale after receiving assurances that it wouldn't happen.

"Definitely it wasn't my decision, it wasn't a football decision to be fair, I'm very disappointed," Bilic said, as reported by The Independent.

"We are the team that needs all the good players, he is the player that has know-how in the Premier League, he has vast experience, he is a national team player, he's a great professional and he played last week against Burnley.

"The whole last week he was training with us and when we were doing the shape, even on Saturday he was there.

"I had the assurances that he was going to stay and so that makes me very, very disappointed that he left."

Manchester United are eyeing the capture of RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano next summer with the defender said to be available for as little as £38 million due to his release clause.

According to The Times, the Red Devils are keen to reopen their pursuit of the 22-year-old after he signed a new three-year contract at the Bundesliga club which removed a £45m release clause over his head.

However the new deal is said to contain a new release clause that allows Upamecano to leave Leipzig for £38m at the end of the season if he wishes.

Wellington Phoenix have announced the signing of New Zealand international midfielder Clayton Lewis, the club confirmed on their official website.

The 23-year-old, who had been playing for Auckland City, spent two seasons in England's League Two with Scunthorpe United.

Former Schalke defender George Timotheu is trialling with Adelaide United, reports Australian journalist Val Migliaccio.

The 23-year-odl cente-half had a trial period with Western Sydney Wanderers last week.

Timotheu made his debut for Schalke in 2019 but struggled after gaining a move a Belgian side Zulte-Waregem and is now looking for a new home.
