Mathias Kigonya is set to complete his move away from Sofapaka after several seasons with the team.
Coach John Baraza had earlier stated that the custodian had asked to leave. “He (Kigonya) came to us and requested that we allow him to get another challenge, and since he came in a good way, we had to let him go.”
When reached for comment, the Ugandan goalkeeper explained his reason for leaving Batoto ba Mungu. “I fell out with them, and that could have affected me as an individual. I went to them and requested for release, and the good thing is that they gave me.
“Sofapaka is a great team, it has made me, who I am and will forever appreciate and thank them for that,” Kigonya told Goal in an interview.
Kigonya has already been linked with a transfer move to AFC Leopards.
