Although, initial reports suggested he was struggling to raise funds for the operation since Kotoko's top hierarchy had refused to foot the bill, the club's communication director Obed Acheampong has confirmed that everything was in order and the player could spend between six to eight weeks on the sideline.

Darkwah joined Kotoko from Aduana Stars as a free agent ahead of the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season.
