Kjell Jonevret unveiled as new Orlando Pirates head coach

The 54-year-old tactician is expected to rejuvenate the Buccaneers, who are placed 10th on the league standings

Premier Soccer League Soccer (PSL) giants Orlando Pirates announced Kjell Jonevret as their new head coach on Monday morning.

The Swedish tactician replaces Muhsin Ertugral, who resigned last November following Pirates' embarrassing 6-1 PSL defeat to SuperSport United.

Augusto Palacios has been serving as the caretaker coach and he is now expected to return to the Pirates development academy as the technical director.

Khoza stated that the management of the club will ensure that the 2005 Swedish Coach of the Year hits the ground running.

"The new coach of Orlando Pirates: Kjell Jonevret, former Molde FK and Djurgardens IF coach has been given a three year contract," Khoza told the media.

"We will do everything possible to make sure coach Kjell Jonevret hits the ground running. The immediate challenges on the the new coach. He will be to stabilise the team," he said.

"The most important thing is to bring back the confidence of the players and stabilise the team," the PSL chairman continued.

"He has great staying power. And we hope his temperament can assist all of us. He is a teacher," he added.

"He won the league in Norway and in Sweden.,” Khoza concluded.

Jonevret will be assisted by Harold Legodi and Benson Mhlongo, who is also the Bucs reserve team head coach.
