Kenya is among the 221 Fifa member countries set to receive part of the nine million football balls to be distributed by the internal football mother body.

The ten billion programme, will be run through high schools and it is seen as a shot in the arm for Kenyan Secondary Schools Sports Association that for a long time have played the role of the feeder program for Kenyan club

Fifa announced the development during a Council meeting held in Kigali, Rwanda on October 26. “A budget of USD 100 million has been allocated to implement the program and operate it until 2022.

“Through the initiative, Fifa will distribute nine million footballs to schools in the territories of the 211 member associations and create an online platform to inform teachers on how to incorporate football into education,” read a statement from Fifa.

Additionally, Fifa is also set to give Kenya Sh100 million in the same period to go towards the development of the women’s football, right from the grass root.
