Ahead of Wednesday's clash with Manchester City, Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew says his outfit have been lifted by Saturday's win over West Bromwich Albion.

It was relief overflow at Liberty Stadium as the Jack Army beat The Baggies 1-0 to pick three points for the first time in seven Premier League games.

Unsurprisingly, their poor run of form has condemned them to rock-bottom of the table, as relegation stares.

“Saturday’s win has given us a massive boost,” Ayew said, as reported by his club's official website.

“The win against West Brom is something we can build on. It was a very good feeling.

“The whole team is fired up at the minute to continue our progress because we don’t want to have a difficult season like last year.

“We know we have to continue to improve offensively, but we are going in the right direction. We just have to keep pushing."

Wednesday's match looks daunting for Swansea on many angles.

Coming up against a relentless City side, who beat town rivals Manchester United on Sunday to set a Premier League record of 14 wins on the spin in a single season, Ayew is not lost on how his outfit can survive the fearsome onslaught at the Liberty Stadium.

“We need some luck against Manchester City," said, the Ghana international.

"They have an unbelievable squad and are strong in every department.

“But we are starting the game 0-0. We will do our best and give 100 per cent to try to get something positive from it.

“If we could do it, beating Manchester City would be our biggest result of the season.”

It will be Ayew's 17 league appearance of the campaign for Swansea should he play in the midweek fixture.

He has one goal to his name from those outings.
