Khune has already conceded four goals in the league this season, but his return is a welcome relief for Solinas with Vries out injured

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is available for selection ahead of Tuesday's match away to Baroka FC.

The 31-year-old skipper was given some time off to deal with his personal issues last weekend, and in his absence, Virgil Vries started against Free State Stars in the MTN8 quarter-finals.

However, with Vries ruled out of action for the next two weeks, Khune is expected to return to the starting line-up, although coach Giovanni Solinas said the techical team will still mull over the selection of which keeper is ready for the encounter in Polokwane.

“We have three goalkeepers in camp,” Solinas told the Amakhosi website.

“We will mull about the selection of the goalkeeper, but it’s good to see that Khune is back in camp and available for selection,” said Solinas.

Apart from Khune, the Soweto giants also have Brylon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma available for selection. The three goalkeepers have travelled to the Limpopo province with the team.

Meanwhile, Solinas described Joseph Molangoane's injury as a major blow to Amakhosi's planning.

The speedy winger broke his leg in the previous encounter against Ea Lla Koto, and he's expected to be out for some time.

“His injury is a major blow to our planning. We will fully support Molangoane on his road to recover. His injury is a major blow to our planning, but we have capable players to cover that role,” concluded Solinas.

Molangoane joins George Maluleka and Teenage Hadebe, who are also nursing injuries.

Solinas will hope to have the two players back as soon as possible given the amount of pressure the club has been over the past three seasons.
