AIFF announces plans for Super Cup - When, where and how?

The plan for the inaugural edition of the Super Cup was decided in an All India Football Federation (AIFF) league committee meeting on Monday. Senior Vice-President Mr Subrata Dutta chaired the meeting at AIFF Headquarters, Football House in New Delhi.

When?

The qualifiers for the Super Cup are to be played between March 12, 2018, and March 31, 2018, while the final round will be held between March 31, 2018, to April 22, 2018.

AFC Cup commitments of Aizawl FC and Bengaluru FC will be taken into consideration, subject to their qualification to the group stages. 

Where?

The venue for the Super Cup will be Cuttack or Kochi. A final decision will be taken after inspections by the AIFF.

How?

Super Cup will be a knock-out competition with 16 teams. The top six teams of the I-League and the Indian Super League would be granted a direct entry into the round of 16, while the bottom-placed teams from both the leagues would be competing in playoffs to fill the remaining four spots.
