NorthEast United goalkeeper TP Rehenesh has been punished with an interim suspension for violent conduct.

The 25-year-old Indian goalkeeper was seen slapping ATK defender Gerson Vieira during a corner-kick routine in the early minutes of the fixture between NorthEast United and ATK on October 4.

With a full inquiry into the matter by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee pending, the former East Bengal goalie will miss the Highlanders' match against defending champions Chennaiyin FC on Thursday.

The incident went unnoticed by the officials during the game but retrospective action has now been taken. Eelco Schattorie's Highlanders have four points from their first two games and are fifth on the table.
