Harambee Stars defender David Owino is running against time to shake off an injury as Kenya readies to take on Ghana on September 8.

Owino is among the 12 defenders summoned by Kenyan coach Sebastien Migne ahead of the crunch tie. But the Zesco United defender has been battling an injury that has kept him out of action for the past two weeks.

Owino has so far missed three games with the Zambian Premier League champions after he picked an injury in a league game; a 3-0 victory against Zanaco on August 4.

Since then, the talented defender has sat out of a Caf Champions League victory against Mbabane Swallows and a league tie with Kabwe Warriors FC last weekend.

Owino has also been left out of Zesco United’s squad to face Etoile Du Sahel in the final Group match, as confirmed by coach George Lwandamina.

Even if Owino resumes training this coming weekend, it is unlikely that he will have the required match fitness to play against Ghana.

Harambee Stars will host the Black Stars on September 8 at Kasarani.
