Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has revealed that lead striker Jacques Tuyisenge missed the match against Kakamega Homeboyz because of injury.

The Rwandan striker is currently K’Ogalo’s top scorer so far this season and is also chasing for the KPL Golden Boot, as he lies second behind leader Elvis Rupia (15 goals), formerly of Nzoia Sugar.

Tuyisenge returned to Gor Mahia squad in a 2-1 defeat against Bandari where he managed to score the lone and was also on target against Posta Rangers in a 3-1 win in Kisumu.

However, the player was not named in the squad to face Homeboyz in a match K’Ogalo won 3-1 to remain on course for a record 17th league title.

The Briton coach has now explained to Goal that he was forced to rest Tuyisenge for precaution measures. ”Tuyisenge is injured again and because of our tight schedule, he needs treatment and not games.

“The reason for this is because he works so damn hard and always gets kicked by defenders and plays his heart out for both himself and his teammates. If there is a ball to be won and he’s not favorite, he will give everything to win it. That is a player he is, a diamond of a player.

”We must be very carefully with his injury because he landed badly on his back like keeper Boniface Oluoch, who landed awkwardly on his shoulder. We will see if he will be available soon.”

The next assignment for Gor Mahia will be on Thursday against Chemelil, before tackling Rayon Sports in a Caf Confederation Cup tie on Sunday.
