Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has revealed that he has his work cut out this season as the gap between the PSL’s big boys and the rest of the teams have narrowed.

While Chiefs recently went on a three-game winning streak, which saw Solinas walk away with the Coach of the Month award for September, Amakhosi have since been brought back down to earth as they are now two games without a win.

Chiefs recently were edged out by Polokwane City and Solinas admits that the Soweto giants need to be wary of underestimating thieir opponents this season.

“It’s not easy at all this season because the results are balanced,” Solinas was quoted as saying by The Star.

“If most games end in a score of 1-0 or 2-1, that means every game is difficult,” he added.

“We need to make sure we prepare well for each game and not underestimate opponents, because everybody can beat you,” he expressed.

One team that Chiefs will certainly not be underestimating is their rivals Orlando Pirates. After the international break, Chiefs will then look to close the gap on log leaders Bidvest Wits as Solinas experiences his first taste of the Soweto Derby.

Meanwhile, after failing to secure the MTN8 title, Solinas will be given another reprieve to claim a trophy as the Telkom Knockout Cup is just around the corner.

Chiefs were drawn against Black Leopards in their first round game of the 2018 spectacle, and Solinas is adamant that Chiefs will take nothing for granted despite the PSL’s new boys blowing hot and cold this season.

“We have to respect Black Leopards, and personally, I don’t underestimate them. They started well in the league, so it’s a very tough game for us,” the Italian-born mentor concluded.
