Gabriel Wassa has called his transfer to Plateau United as the ideal move for his career after the defender dumped Akwa United for the 2017 league champions.

Wassa enjoyed a turnaround to his career after he joined the Promise Keepers from Rivers United at the beginning of last season but has gone to Jos to reunite with his former coach at Akwa United, Abdu Maikaba who crossed-over to Plateau United.

The defender said that it was his resolve to change to another team so that he continues from where he stopped last season and that he feels that working under the same coach will speed up his determination to move to the next level in his career.

“I am now a player of Plateau United and I can say that I am pleased with the switch because I believe that I am going there to develop further in my game,” Wassa told Goal.

“I enjoyed my time with Akwa United because I was able to start playing again and I was close to the level I was with Niger Tornadoes but I reviewed my stay at the end of the season and I came to the realization that my interest will be well served to play at Plateau United.

“I initially thought my movement to Rivers United would take me to the next level but it was not to be because I encountered a lot of challenges that I don't like to talk about again.

“The height of it all was the issues I had with the philosophy of our then coach. I suffered a nosedive to my career and only managed to remain with them until the end of the season before I got a call from Akwa United. I am at a new club now and I am enjoying the experience.
