Letsoaka interviewed for BFA technical director job in Botswana

Former Free State Stars coach Serame Letsoaka has been linked with a technical director job in Botswana with the country's Football Association.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic coach in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and former Qwa-Qwa Stars (Free State Stars) defensive midfielder is said to have attracted interest from the BFA as they want to improve their national teams.

The latest media reports have indicated that the former South African Football Association (Safa) technical director is in the running to serve the BFA in the same role.

Although, the BFA has Matshidiso Kowa as the current technical director, he is reportedly leaving the association with his contract set to expire in June this year.

Informants close to The Sowetan indicate that Letsoaka was seen at the BFA headquarters in Gaborone on Wednesday.

"I bumped into Serame Letsoaka at the FA offices. I'm told he was here for an interview for the TD (technical director) role at the FA," said the source.

However, the publication followed up with the football association’s communications officer, Tumo Mpatane, who confirmed the former Free State Stars coach was indeed in town for an interview.

"If he (Letsoaka) wishes to talk about it, he can talk to you, but our position is that we will only divulge the final candidate that we feel is satisfactory to the standards set for this position," Mpatane said.

"The interviews started (yesterday/Wednesday) and we hope we will finish (today/Thursday). There are many candidates (even from outside Botswana) that have come through," continued Mpatane.

After parting ways with Stars last year, the 59-year-old has been busy with Fifa coaching courses. He also coached Golden Arrows in the PSL and SA junior national teams such as the U12, U17 and U20 sides.
