Former AFC Leopards captain, Martin Imbalambala has been released by newly promoted Kenyan Premier League side, Vihiga United.

Imbalambala who crossed to Vihiga from neighboring Kakamega Homeboyz last season, is among the 12 players released by the club after gaining a new status.

Others are Gilbert Munai, Johnson Kidambu, Oscar Omwami, Gideon Abucheri, Frankline Mwenda, John Ouma and Nelson Asena.

Ugandan Rashid Kyambadde, as well as Aquinous Muteshi, Lucas Weitere and Keiphas Mutuu, have also been discharged. 

Vihiga United has been on a rebuilding process as they prepare to debut after gaining promotion to the top tier.
