Former Ghana international Derek Boateng has revealed plans to return to local club Liberty Professionals before calling time on his career.

The 34-year-old is in the twilight of his playing days, having spent time in England, Germany, Spain, Israeli, Greece, Ukraine, Sweden and lately the USA.

He was on the books of Liberty before moving abroad.

“I have made up my mind to play for Liberty before I retire,” Boateng told Metro TV.

“Liberty is where I started from and I think that is where I will end my career.

“They gave me the platform and I think it will be good to show them how loyal I am to them.

“So hopefully, I will play for Liberty before I hang up my boots.”

Boateng first moved to Greek side Kalamata, before joining giants Panathinaikos.

He then played for OFI Crete and AIK in Sweden.

Beitar Jerusalem, FC Koln, Getafe, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, Fulham, Rayo Vallecano, Eibar and Rayo OKC make up his other destination.

At international level, Boateng represented Ghana at the 2006 and 2010 World Cup tournaments as well as the 2002, 2012 and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
