Defeating Nasarawa United was not easy, says Niger Tornadoes' Bala

Ikon Allah handler says it was difficult for his side to see off the Solid Miners at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja on Sunday

Niger Tornadoes head coach Abubakar Bala admitted his side faced a tough challenge in defeating Nasarawa United 2-0 at the Confluence Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Musa Wakili and Ebenezer Odeyemi helped secure a home victory against Kabiri Dogo's men in a Week 12 encounter in Lokoja.

The tactician hailed their great character of the Solid Miners and assured they will maintain their good form when they face El Kanemi Warriors.

"It was not easy winning the match against Nasarawa United," Bala told Goal.

"We knew Nasarawa were a good side and were capable of possessing the ball, so I instructed my boys to mark out their main ball passer.

I'm happy today [Sunday] was our day. Our performance was okay and I could say it was one of our best at home this season.

"We could have recorded more goals but I'm very happy and I thank God for this victory.

"[Kabiru] Dogo is a good coach and I said it before this game that we hav to be on top of our game all through the 90s to avoid defeat.

"For our next game, I believe we will build on this victory by taking the confidence to getting something tangible in Maiduguri."
