Cape Town set to host 2018 Five-A-Side Football World Championships

Cape Town is set to host the Five-A-Side World Championships.
The biggest amateur football tournament in the world is scheduled to take place in the Mother City on 17 and 18 November.
The tournament which is also known as F5WC will take place at the Century City Fives Futbol facilities.

This was disclosed by Adam Fine, who is the chief executive officer of South Africa's largest 5-a-side operator - Fives Futbol.
“This will be the Championships 5th year, and now South Africa joins the ranks of iconic countries that have previously hosted the tournament including Dubai, Thailand and China," he said.
It is said that over 280 international players from 32 different countries are expected to participate in the global competition.
"Our country is no stranger to hosting major international sporting events. I am very excited that we are able to add five a side football to the list," he continued.
The fast-paced, action-packed 20 minute five-a-side soccer format has been booming internationally over the last decade.
This year's championship kicked off at the beginning of the year with 500 000 players competing in knockout games from over 60 countries in a six-month long qualifying league.
“Not only do we believe that having the opportunity to host will be a big boost for the sport locally, but an opportunity to use the game as a platform to showcase our wonderful country to the world,” Fine added.
The matches are scheduled to start on Saturday from 12pm and Sunday from 5pm at Fives Futbol, Century City.
