Alain Djeumfa's team edged their European foes in their first friendly as they build-up to the 2019 Women's World Cup

Cameroon women team defeated Croatia 2-1 at the Hankou Stadium, Wuhan in their first pre-Women's World Cup warm-up game on Thursday.

Goals in each half from Ngono Mani and Henriette Akaba were all the Indomitable Lionesses needed to subdue their Europeans.

Mani opened the scoring in the 33rd minute to give the Africans a first-half lead against Mate Prskalo's side.

However, Lojna leveled matters for Prskalo's team 18 minutes after the restart of the match but Akaba scored the winner six minutes from normal regulation time.

The victory over the Lavice was coach Alain Djeumfa's first since replacing erstwhile gaffer Joseph Ndoko in January.

With the triumph, Cameroon are through to the final, where they take on hosts China, who thrashed Russia 4-1 at the same venue.

Cameroon are set make their second World Cup appearance and they will face Canada, the Netherlands and New Zealand in group E at the preliminary stages of football competition.
