Barcelona have revealed that Andres Iniesta will only be forced to sit out one game with a calf complaint.
He was replaced by Denis Suarez, with it clear that the 33-year-old would be unable to see the game out.
There were fears that he could be joining Samuel Umtiti on the long-term injury list, but Barca have moved to ease those concerns and ruled their skipper out of only one clash.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “Medical tests carried out have confirmed that FC Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has muscle fatigue in his left calf and will miss Barca’s next game.”
Iniesta will play no part in that contest, but could come back into contention for a meeting with Villarreal next weekend.
Barca will hope to have his vast experience at their disposal, having already seen France international defender Umtiti ruled out of their plans for the foreseeable future.
The 24-year-old also picked up a knock against Celta - a game Barca drew 2-2 - with a hamstring problem set to keep him out for up to eight weeks.
