Could the Kiwi be about to switch his Big Blue allegiances?

On the eve of another blockbuster Big Blue semi-final, Melbourne Victory attacker Kosta Barbarouses has emerged as an off-season target for Sydney FC.

The in-form Kiwi, who has struck 15 times this campaign, is off-contract at season's end with the Sky Blues the latest to be linked with interest in his services.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Sydney FC are showing serious interest in Barbarouses and will have room to move in their salary cap with a host of players set to depart.

Victory do remain keen on locking down the 29-year-old, who has admitted an overseas move at this point of his career could be tempting.

"Overseas is something that is enticing me at the moment. I can't rule out anything," he told AAP in April.

"I've got a little one on the way in September. It's not just two people I have to worry about from here on. It's going to be three.

"Instead of being nervous about it, I'm excited about what my options are going to be and what the end situation is going to look like.

"I need to see what Victory can do for me, what I'm worth to them...not saying that in a negative way but that's the way the cap works.

"I'm confident there's going to be quite a bit of interest with the season I've had."

Western Sydney Wanderers are also reportedly keen to land Barbarouses for next season but his wage demands are set to be too much for Markus Babbel's side.

Barbarouses will of course face off against Sydney FC in an A-League semi-final on Sunday with the Sky Blues reported interest in the Victory man set to add extra spice to an already intriguing Big Blue.

It's rare that players swap directly between the two rivals, though Sebastian Ryall did sign for Sydney from Victory in 2009.
