South African Women’s senior national team captain Janine Van Wyk has bid farewell to NWSL side Houston Dash after her contract came to an end.
The 30-year-old defender secured a move to the National Women's Soccer League in the United States of America from her own club JVW F.C. in the Sasol Women's League team earlier this year after a string of fine displays for Banyana Banyana that saw her steal the limelight.
In her debut match, the Alberton-born defender played the full 90 minutes as they secured a 2-0 victory against Chicago Red Stars.
Van Wyk has notched up a record 143 appearances with the senior national team scoring 11 goals since her national team career started as a 17-year-old back in 2005.
It is yet to be known where Van Wyk's career next lies especially for someone who has racked up so much experience at the highest level for so long in the game.
