Katsina United’s Destiny Ashadi has credited the passionate appeal of their coach Abdullahi Biffo for them to hit FC Ifeanyiubah harder for the 3-0 emphatic result in their topflight league tie on Sunday at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
The tie ended 1-0 between both teams at the same spot last season but the Chanji Boys were rampant against the Anambra Warriors taking a 2-0 halftime lead through the goals of Eric Dufegha and Tasiu Lawal before Ashadi nailed the visitors' coffin with the third in the second half.
Ashadi in a post match interview said that coach Biffo’s encouraging words before the start of the game showed that they the players have a responsibility to win for him and it was the reason they threw everything at the Nnewi side for the overwhelming result.
“The passionate appeal from our coach pointed to one thing that we must try to win well against FC Ifeanyiubah. It was the reason the game started on a fast tempo and we managed to maintain it till the duration of the game. We knew that they would be coming with the tactics to frustrate our game plan but they met us well prepared,” Ashadi told Goal.
“Besides the encouraging words of our coach to win the game for him, we were also desperate for win because of the loss we suffered to Kwara United in the previous game before FC Ifeanyiubah game.
“I will rank this as our best result of the season till date. This win has lifted our spirits and we will go to Jos with high hope that we can shock Wikki Tourists at home.
“They are playing away from Bauchi and this should give us an edge knowing that it will be a neutral ground to both of us."
