Jamie Vardy's second-half penalty was the 50th goal conceded by the Gunners in league play

Arsenal have conceded more goals in 2017-18 than any other season in the club's Premier League history.

The Gunners shipped their 50th goal of the season in Wednesday's match at Leicester City, breaking the mark of 49 set by the club in the 1994-5 and 2011-12 campaigns.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored in the first half before Jamie Vardy's second-half penalty gave the Gunners a half-century of goals conceded in 2017-18.

Arsenal's misery was compounded by Riyad Mahrez, who struck to make it 3-1 at full time and 51 goals conceded overall this season.

The last time the Gunners conceded as many as 50 goals in a league season was in 1983-84, when they shipped 60.

The club's defensive fragility has resulted in them missing out on the top four for the second consecutive season, which has also brought about a change at the top.

Arsenal have been beaten a total of seven times away from home with this latest defeat, the first time that mark has been reached since 1966.

After 22 years in charge, Arsene Wenger will depart the club at the end of the 2017-18 season.
