The Cheetahs will meet Al Wahda in the final

Al Wasl won an intense encounter 3-2 in the Dubai Derby against Shabab Al Ahli in the second leg of the Arabian Gulf Cup semi-finals to qualify for the final for the first time in their history.

This caused hysteria amongst the Al Wasl fans, who may finally have their first taste of glory since 2010, when they won the GCC Champions League. They celebrated outside the stadium after the match in big numbers to appreciate their players.

Al Wasl went 1-0 up in the 14th minute thanks to Abdalla Saleh but Shabab Al Ahli quickly replied with an equalizer, before Waleed Ambar scored their second in the 72nd minute. Al Wasl equalized in minute 87 but needed a winner to avoid away goals as they drew 0-0 at Shabab Al Ahli’s stadium in the first leg. Caio Canedo then rounded the defenders in injury time to strike a powerful shot past Majed Nasser to give Al Wasl the valuable win.

Dibba went 3-2 up but had to continue the game with 10 men just minutes later when Yasser Salem received a red card. Sebastian Tagliabue, who had scored the first for Al Wahda, scored another two in injury time to help Al Wahda advance into the final with an 8-5 aggregate scoreline.

The date and match of the final is yet to be confirmed by the PLC.
