Ashanti Gold coach C.K Akunnor is aiming to turn his "underrated" side into a "serious threat" this season as they travel to Cape Coast Sports Stadium to face Hearts of Oak in matchday two of 2017-18 Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
The Miners survived relegation last season but have seen a major improvement this term, following a complete takeover of the club by business mogul Dr. Kwaku Frimpong.
They defeated Wa All Stars 1-0 at home on opening day and the manager is hoping to make it two consecutive victories against the Phobians who shared the spoils 1-1 with Eleven Wonders last weekend.
"Hearts of Oak is a big club and they shall continue to be Hearts of Oak. We know what they can do and we are working on neutralizing their threats," Akunnor told Fox FM.
"We hope to make things difficult for Hearts and try to win the game. We want to be much better than last season and probably be one of the biggest threats to the other title favourites. I want to achieve more than the last campaign to make the fans excited," he added.
Ashanti Gold are currently third on the log with three points.
