Following their fine results against Sunshine Stars and MFM FC, the midfielder claims his side can build on that towards achieving success this term

Ebuka Aneakwu believes Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC can consolidate on their impressive results in recent games to challenge for the Nigeria Professional Football League title.

Henry Makinwa’s men bounced back from their defeat to Kano Pillars to silence MFM FC  before securing a point against troubled Sunshine Stars.

Still basking in euphoria of his side’s point at the Akure Stadium where Ernest Governor’s brace denied the Owena Whales maximum points, the midfielder is of the view that their recent form can propel them to lift the Nigeria topflight diadem.

"It was a tough match but we were able to get an important point," Ebuka told Goal.

"We knew they were in a bad state because we heard about their protest over the wages, and thought it was an opportunity for us to get a victory in Akure, but the draw was not a bad one for us.

"We truly got a huge moral boost from defeating MFM who came to Akure and won and we felt if MFM could come and win here, then, we could too.

"Sunshine Stars really played well and never looked like a team in problems.

"We want to build on our results so far and improve on our form in order to get away wins, then we can challenge for the title.

"I believe we can achieve our main target of winning the league if we could pick more points away and keep winning our home games."
