Derry City 1-1 Cork City: Leesiders force FAI Cup replay

Mark O'Sullivan's second-half goal ensured that the Candystripes and Leesiders must play again after a tight encounter at the Brandywell
Derry City and Cork City will have to replay after Mark O'Sullivan cancelled out Ryan McBride's goal in their FAI Cup quarter-final at the Brandywell.

The hosts started the match well, controlling the ball and retaining possession, and took just five minutes to go ahead, as McBride headed home from a corner. A good effort from Billy Dennehy helped Cork establish themselves in the game, but the Tralee man was denied by Doherty.

Cork's resurgence paid off just after half-time when O'Sullivan made the most of a defensive lapse by the hosts. Both sides had good chances to win the game and progress to the last four, but Patrick McEleney saw a long-range effort saved by Mark McNulty, while Stephen Dooley had a great chance in the box after good work from Mark Timlin.

However, neither team could find the crucial goal, meaning the replay will take place on Monday, September 14 at Turner's Cross at 19.45.
