EA Sports Cup First Round Draw made: Drogheda set to host Shelbourne

First Division side Shelbourne have been drawn against top flight opponents, while Cabinteely will play UCD in the first round

The draw for the first round of the 2015 EA Sports Cup has been made, with SSE Airtricity Premier Division side Drogheda United drawn against Shelbourne.

Cork City, Dundalk, St Patrick’s Athletic and Shamrock Rovers all received byes due to their European and Setanta Sports Cup involvement, while League of Ireland newcomers Cabinteely will travel to UCD in their first ever EA Sports Cup game.

The competition features all 20 League of Ireland clubs, as well as Leinster Senior League winners Crumlin United, Ulster Senior League champions Cockhill Celtic, and the Mayo Senior League.

UCC will also take part in the tournament for the first time, having won the Munster Senior League, and will meet Wexford Youths in their first round clash.

Pool 1 - Wexford Youths v UCC, Cobh Ramblers v Limerick. Byes: Cork City, Waterford United.
Pool 2 – Mayo League v Sligo Rovers, Galway United v Finn Harps. Byes: Derry City, Cockhill Celtic.
Pool 3 – Crumlin United v Bray Wanderers, Drogheda United v Shelbourne. Byes: Dundalk, St Patrick’s Athletic.
Pool 4 – UCD v Cabinteely, Bohemians v Athlone Town. Byes: Shamrock Rovers, Longford Town.
