Roscommon & District League 1-4 Cork City: Miller makes Leesiders debut

The former Manchester United midfielder started his first game for John Caulfield's side, as they recorded a comfortable friendly victory
Roscommon and District League proved no match for SSE Airtricity Premier Division runners-up Cork City, with the Leesiders running out 4-1 winners at Lecarrow.

Liam Miller made his first start since signing for the Leesiders, but saw his side concede an early goal when Darragh Concannon converted from the penalty spot after six minutes. Roscommon's lead did not last long as Cork Under-19 attacker Stuart Murphy drove home the equaliser two minutes later.

Cork made their dominance count in the snow when Ross Gaynor slotted the ball home from a penalty, with goals from Karl Sheppard and Gavan Holohan sealing a comfortable win for John Caulfield's men.

Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers recorded a 3-0 friendly win away at Waterford United. Paul O'Connor netted the opener from a corner, before Danny North capitalised on a defence error to double the scoring. Keith Fahey had a hand in the third, while fellow new signing Mikey Drennan made his Hoops debut after signing from Aston Villa.

Elsewhere, Cobh Ramblers needed penalties to defeat Douglas Hall after a 2-2 draw in the Munster Senior Cup quarter-final. Shane O'Connor and Ron Stanton scored for Ramblers as they came from behind to seal progress to the last four.
