Pascal Millien agrees to extend Sligo Rovers stay

The Haiti international has agreed to remain at the Showgrounds for another season after signing a new deal with the club
Airtricity Premier Division champions Sligo Rovers have confirmed that Pascal Millien has agreed a new contract with the club.

The 26-year-old Haiti international joined the Bit O'Red at the beginning of the 2012 season from FC Tampa Bay and has agreed to extend his stay at the club for another season, having made 26 appearances in his first season with the club.

Speaking about the development, Sligo boss Ian Baraclough said that Millien offered a 'different' dimension to the squad and was pleased that the midfielder will be able to complete pre-season training.

“Pascal is something different to what is in our squad and in the league as a whole. He has potential to create something, to change a game and is a very useful option to us," baraclough told

"It will be a big benefit that he will be able to complete a full pre-season this year and now he has the experience of a year under his belt in the league and becoming a league champion."

He added: "He will also have the added confidence of helping his country qualify for the Gold Cup in recent weeks in a FIFA recognised tournament which is another boost for him and I expect he will have a spring in his step next month.

"We spoke a lot in the final weeks of the season, as well as throughout the year, but especially as the season was coming to a conclusion.

"We had good chats about how he can improve and I’m pleased to have another option in the squad and be able to work with him again," said the Sligo manager.
