The green and gold's latest clash at the World Cup was the most watched program on Thursday

They were playing on a late Thursday night rather than prime time Saturday, but the Socceroos have again pulled in a strong TV audience for their World Cup clash with Denmark.

Including both metro and regional reach, 3.2 million Australians saw the green and gold forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with the Danish on SBS.

Unsurprisingly, it was a few hundred thousand less than the number that the France clash attracted over the weekend, but still strong enough to make it the 13th highest ranked free-to-air program nationally in 2018.

Now covering every group match of the 2018 World Cup, SBS claim to have reached 6.8 million Australians to date with their coverage of the tournament.

It hasn't been such smooth sailing for Optus Sport, who after a slew of technical difficulties have had to share their World Cup coverage with SBS.

Optus have full rights to the tournament and are still hoping to exclusively show round of 16 and quarter-final matches.
