AmaZulu’s winless run was extended to four matches with a 1-1 draw against SuperSport United while Swallows conceded late against Chippa United.
Swallows 1-1 Chippa United
It took the Birds just 10 minutes to take the lead at the Dobsonville Stadium and it was that man again as Ruzaigh Gamildien kept up his blistering goal-scoring start to the season with a superbly-taken effort, when he chested the ball down before firing home with a sublime angled half-volley.
Chippa however, perhaps boosted by last weekend’s win over TS Galaxy, did not let the setback get them down as they played their way back into the contest.
And having limited the Birds’ chances, the Chilli Boys found an equaliser in the 75th minute through Kurt Lentjies.
The point allows Swallows to stay in the second spot on the standings, behind Mamelodi Sundowns on goal difference.
Swallows 1-1 Chippa United
Siphelele Mthembu had given coach Benni McCarthy's side a 33rd minute lead at the Lucas Moripe Stadium with a well-executed shot.
The Durban side could not, however, hold on for victory - with 14 minutes to go Bradley Grobler ensured a share of the spoils for the hosts when he netted his 11th league goal of the season.
The result leaves SuperSport in third spot, two points off the summit.
Black Leopards 0-2 Cape Town City
On a rainy evening at the Thohoyandou Stadium, the Citizens came away with maximum points for what was their first win in four games.
After Justin Shonga had gone close on nine minutes, Bradley Ralani gave the Cape side the lead in the 31st minute, picking out the top corner after being set up by Fagrie Lakay.
Ralani bagged his second of the match in the 84th minute after latching onto a Mpho Makola pass before taking the ball around the keeper and scoring.
Maritzburg United 0-3 TS Galaxy
The hosts found themselves on the back foot at Harry Gwala Stadium on the half-hour mark when they lost possession in midfield which resulted in Lindokuhle Mbatha crossing for Wayde Lekay to score.
Galaxy increased their advantage three minutes after the interval when Mbatha turned from provider to scorer, converting a pass from Mxolisi Macuphu. The result was put beyond doubt by Felix Badhenhorst's 83rd-minute goal.
Stellenbosch 2-3 Baroka
Stellenbosch staged a late comeback at the Danie Craven Stadium, but it proved too little too late.
The home team had largely enjoyed the better of the first half exchanges but found themselves behind in the 39th minute when Evidence Makgopa found the back of the net for Bakgaga.
Makgopa then completed his brace before Gerald Phiri seemingly wrapped up proceedings with an 89th-minute goal.
It wasn't quite over however as Stanley Dimgba and Ryan Moon (a penalty) scored for Stellies in added time to give Baroka a late scare.
