Tshishimbi opened the scoring for Yanga away from home as they beat Lipuli FC 2-0 in the league game on Saturday

Young Africans beat Lipuli FC 2-0 in their Ligi Kuu Bara match played at the Samora Stadium in Iringa on Saturday.

Both teams exhibited a good show in the first half with an intent to score but there were many missed chances though Yanga used one of their chances well.

Lipuli were also in goal hunt and they would have scored in the 8th minute through Salamba but the shot went directly to Rostand's hands.

After wasting several chances in early minutes, Yanga took the lead in the 19th minute through their defensive midfielder, Tshishimbi who finished Emmanuel Martin’s flick header from Hassan Kessy’s corner.

The scorer rushed in timely to fire it home past goalkeeper Agathon Anthon. Before the goal Yanga had a major blow after their dependable goalkeeper Youthe Rastande was forced to go out on a stretcher after colliding with Lipuli player in efforts to clear the ball, his place was taken by Ramadhan Kabwili.

The goal was a wake up call for the hosts who worked hard in search of an equaliser with his strikers, Malimi Busungu, Adam Salamba and Jamal Mnyate looking bitter thorns to Yanga defence. The two sides went into the break with Yanga on 1-0 lead. On resumption Lipuli came back into the game eager for an equaliser and in the 47th and 48th minutes, Salamba and Busungu nearly scored, but their shots were saved by Kabwili.

Yanga responded strongly with Obrey Chirwa , Buswita , Emmanuel Martin and Geofrey Mwaishuya piling pressure on their hosts’ goal and in the 55th minute, their efforts paid off after Buswita and Obrey one-two play was completed by the Zambian striker outrunning defenders to feed Buswita who tapped it home to double his side’s lead.

The goals gave the hosts a daunting task at their home ground in front of their supporters.

The win helps Yanga to reach 31 points after 16 games this season so far, they have moved to the second place in the League standings one point ahead of Azam who will be playing this night against Ndanda FC at Azam Complex.

Yanga have reduced the gap of points against the leaders, Simba to five points but the Msimbazi will play their 16th match on Sunday against Ruvu Shooting at National Stadium in Dar es salaam.
