Commentary

Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, goodbye!
Lazio host Genoa next, while Milan are visited by Benevento.
There goes the full-time whistle! Correa rounded Donnarumma to open the scoring for the hosts inside the first two minutes and grabbed a second with a fierce finish from a tight angle early in the second half. Immobile put the game to bed late on with a terrific strike in off the post and it could have been more for the hosts, who had a goal ruled out by VAR before half-time for a marginal offside, while Immobile's chip over the goalkeeper came back off the post. It finishes 3-0 to Lazio!
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: LAZIO 3-0 MILAN
90' + 1' CROSSBAR! Calhanoglu floats a corner to the near post and Kessie meets it, flicking a header at goal, but it comes back out off the bar!
V. Muriqi
C. Immobile
88' Immobile is the final player to go off in the closing stages of the game, with Muriqi taking his place up front.
D. Cataldi
Lucas Leiva
88' Leiva also comes off, with Cataldi replacing him in a second midfield alteration for Lazio.
J. Akpa Akpro
Luis Alberto
88' With the game wrapped up, Inzaghi makes a triple-change now. Luis Alberto is the first to depart the field, with Akpa Akpro taking his place in midfield.
M. Lazzari
Assist
87' Lazzari's drive and energy had the Milan defence backpedalling, and Immobile dispatched the chance created for him with confidence and precision.
C. Immobile
Goal
87' GOAL!!! IT'S 3-0 TO LAZIO NOW!!! That surely wraps things up for Lazio! Lazzari races down the right and squares it to Immobile on the edge of the box. The striker takes a couple of touches to get into the area before arrowing an unstoppable effort across goal and in off the base of the left-hand post!
84' CLOSE! The ball pops out to Tonali on the edge of the box and the midfielder hits a sweet, left-footed half-volley that fizzes agonisingly wide of the post!
82' CHANCE! Hernandez rushes to get on the end of a Dalot flick-on and challenges Reina for the ball, but the goalkeeper gets there first and spills the ball before gathering at the second attempt. Hernandez goes down, but doesn't appear to have done any serious damage and there's no appeals for a penalty.
80' POST! Luis Alberto sends Immobile in behind with a terrific pass and the striker gets to the edge of the box before lobbing over the onrushing Donnarumma. The ball sails over the head of the stranded goalkeeper, but it pings back out off the post!
78' WIDE! A low cross from the right is inadvertently deflected into the path of Luis Alberto on the edge of the box by Tonali, but the midfielder snatches at his effort and fires high and wide!
Andreas Pereira
J. Correa
76' Correa is going to be denied the chance to complete his hat-trick now as Inzaghi decides to bring him off, with Pereira taking his place.
74' SAVE! The corner comes in from Diaz and Tomori rises highest to flick a header at goal at the back post, but Reina scrambles across to hold onto the ball! That was heading for the top corner!
A. Romagnoli
S. Kjær
73' Pioli's final change sees Kjaer replaced by Romagnoli at centre-back in a like-for-like change.
73' WIDE! Calhanoglu takes a volley on from the edge of the box and catches it sweetly, but it deflects off of Radu and goes behind for a corner!
S. Tonali
I. Bennacer
70' The second alteration sees Bennacer replaced by Tonali in the double pivot alongside Kessie.
Diogo Dalot
D. Calabria
69' Pioli makes another double-change as the second half draws on. Calabria is the first to come off, with Dalot replacing him at right-back.
M. Fares
S. Lulić
68' Inzaghi makes his first change of the evening, bringing Fares on to replace Lulic at left wing-back.
65' WIDE! Leao receives the ball with his back to goal on the edge of the box and works it wide for Calabria, who arrives to smash a low effort towards the bottom-left corner, but it deflects just wide!
Brahim Díaz
A. Saelemaekers
63' The second sees Saelemaekers, who has been quiet since the restart, come off for Real Madrid loanee Diaz.
Rafael Leão
M. Mandžukić
63' Pioli makes a double-substitution as he searches for a way to get Milan back into the game. The first is a like-for-like change up front, as Leao comes on to replace Mandzukic.
61' Immobile attempts to exploit Milan's high line with an early ball over the top for Correa, but he gets way too much power on it and fires it into the path of Donnarumma instead.
59' Milan have a real task on their hands now. Lazio look very sharp and threatening from counter-attacking situations but, with a two-goal deficit to make up for, the visitors have to push forward and attack.
S. Milinković-Savić
Yellow Card
57' Milinkovic-Savic blocks Donnarumma off as he tries to start a counter-attack after claiming a corner and the Lazio midfielder is booked as a result.
56' SAVE! Outstanding save by Donnarumma! Correa bursts forward and gets into the box down the right again before lashing a fierce effort low across goal, but Donnarumma just gets his fingertips to it and turns it past the post!
53' There is another lengthy VAR check following the goal as the challenge on Calhanoglu in the build-up is reviewed, but eventually it is deemed fair and the goal stands!
Luis Alberto
Assist
51' Luis Alberto played to the whistle and showed vision and composure as he picked Correa out in an advanced area, with the forward finding the net superbly.
J. Correa
Goal
51' GOAL!!! LAZIO DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!!! Calhanoglu goes down at the edge of the Lazio box but the referee waves play on and Luis Alberto carries it into the middle before sending it forward to Correa. The forward takes Tomori on and beats him down the right side of the box before thumping a ferocious effort into the roof of the net from a tight angle! It's 2-0 to Lazio!
48' The opening stages of the second half have been much cagier than the first, with a couple of fouls preventing the game from flowing.
46' We're back underway for the second half!
Inzaghi will be delighted with his team's performance, but he will know that they should have more to show for it. Despite a very strong opening half-hour, they did not punish Milan and will rue the VAR call that robbed them of a two-goal cushion. Pioli, meanwhile, will be grateful that, despite his team's poor start, they are not out of it yet and Saelemaekers in particular was pulling the strings in attack in the 15 minutes before half-time.
There goes the half-time whistle! Lazio took an early lead as Correa rounded Donnarumma to open the scoring inside the first two minutes and the hosts looked very dangerous in the first 30 minutes of the game. Milan grew into the contest after that, but were caught too high up the field shortly before half-time and Lazzari finished off a clinical counter-attack, only to be denied by VAR for a marginal offside. It's 1-0 to Lazio at the break!
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: LAZIO 1-0 MILAN
45' + 1' SAVE! Calhanoglu chests the ball from Mandzukic's flick and volleys a pass to Saelemaekers on the right, who sends the airborne pass back into the path of Mandzukic, but his first-time volley is saved by Reina! Great save!
45' After a lengthy check, Lazzari is deemed to have been just offside when Correa played his pass and Lazio's goal is ruled out! It was very, very close.
43' Milan are caught right up the field and three simple passes see Lazio break from the edge of their box into the final third, sending Lazzari one-on-one with Donnarumma. The right wing-back surges into the box before tucking a low effort under the diving goalkeeper - who should do better - and into the net! There is a VAR check underway, however.
41' Milan have been much better over the last 10 minutes or so and that is, in large part, down to the performance of Saelemaekers, who seems to have adopted a freer role and is drifting in from the right to cause problems with his direct running and neat passing.
39' OVER! Saelemaekers runs at the Lazio defence before offloading to Rebic on his left. The forward works it back across to Hernandez, arriving at the edge of the area, but the left-back blasts over the bar!
37' A few sloppy touches from both sides see possession turned over cheaply and there's some frustrated gesticulating. The last minute or so has been a little scrappy.
35' SAVE! Saelemaekers pops up in a central position and plays a neat one-two with Calhanoglu before curling towards the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box, but Reina gets down to make the save!
33' Milinkovic-Savic attempts another incisive throughball, this time aimed at Immobile, but the striker had gone too early and the flag goes up for offside.
31' SAVE! Big save from Reina! Saelemakers plays Calhanoglu into the box with a neat pass and the attacking midfielder turns away from his markers and onto his left foot before striking a low effort at goal from a tight angle, but Reina is there at his near post to make the save!
29' SHOTS! Saelemaekers' speculative effort from distance is blocked, but Milan retain possession and a right-wing cross from Calabria is latched onto by Rebic on the edge of the box, but he can only lash over the bar!
28' Milinkovic-Savic saunters through midfield and tries to slide the ball in behind for the run of Lazzari, but it's a fraction overhit and Donnarumma is out to claim it.
26' Leiva catches Hernandez as the left-back gallops down the flank and Calhanoglu is furious with the referee for not booking the Lazio midfielder. Hernandez stays down for a moment or two, but eventually gets to his feet and seems to be fine.
24' WIDE! Correa gets into the box down the right and he lashes at goal from a tight angle, but doesn't catch it right and slices the ball off-target!
22' Lazio are playing some lovely stuff, exchanging quick, sharp passes with incisive off-the-ball movement and they look like carving Milan open every time they go forward.
20' Calhanoglu fires the free-kick off the wall and behind for a corner, and the resulting delivery is flicked on to Mandzukic at the far post, but he's deemed to have handled the ball and the whistle goes for a Lazio free-kick.
F. Acerbi
Yellow Card
19' Milan work a slick move and Hernandez bursts through the centre, getting forward from left-back, but Acerbi scythes him down and picks up a yellow card.
16' Milan appear to have finally stemmed the tide of Lazio attacks and are enjoying a brief spell of possession of their own now.
14' Immobile gets down the left and this time has a go of his own, lashing left-footed across goal from inside the box, but it comes back out off a defender.
12' OVER! Lulic's cross from the right is inadvertently headed straight into the path of Correa in the centre of the box and he volleys into the ground, but it bounces too high and lands on the roof of the net!
10' Pioli is shaking his head on the sidelines. He can't believe how poor his team have been so far. Outside of the chance they were gifted in the first minute, they've been completely dominated.
8' Milan are really struggling to get into the game. Lazio attack once again, with Immobile causing all sorts of problems with his link play, but Luis Alberto's effort from the left side of the area is blocked away!
6' Lazio are threatening with every attack at the moment. Immobile is the focal point again as Milinkovic-Savic surges forward from midfield and goes for goal from just inside the box, but he gets under it and sends his effort over the bar.
4' SAVE! A Lazio free-kick delivered from the right deflects into the path of Immobile, unmarked in the middle. The striker turns and tries to fire home, but Donnarumma somehow gets down to deny him!
C. Immobile
Assist
2' Immobile's one-touch pass in behind for Correa carved the Milan defence apart - the visitors were all over the place and paid the price for their disorganisation.
J. Correa
Goal
2' GOAL!!! LAZIO ARE IN FRONT ALREADY!!! Bennacer's loose touch is pounced on by Correa, who plays a sharp give-and-go with Immobile and finds himself in behind the Milan defence and one-on-one with Donnarumma. The Lazio forward takes the ball around the goalkeeper and taps into an empty net! It's 1-0 to Lazio!
1' SAVE! Marusic gives the ball away within the first 10 seconds and Milan look to capitalise, with Calhanoglu playing a quick one-two with Mandzukic before striking towards the bottom-left corner from the edge of the box, but Reina gets down to deny him!
1' We're underway in Rome!
Milan coach Stefano Pioli has won both of his last two Serie A games against former club Lazio, as many wins as  he managed in his 13 previous clashes against this opponent in the competition (D4 L7).
Lazio have won each of their last nine home games in the top-flight; they could win 10 such games at home in a row for the third time in their Serie A history, having done so in 1937 and 1974.
Meanwhile, Milan manager Stefano Pioli makes three alterations following his team's disappointing 2-1 defeat against Sassuolo in their last game. Dalot, Meite and Leao are benched, with Hernandez, Bennacer and Mandzukic replacing them in the starting line-up. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unavailable through injury.
Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi - who returns to the dugout for the first time after recovering from Covid-19 - makes just one change after his side were beaten 5-2 by Napoli last time out. Fares drops to the bench, with Lulic replacing him at left wing-back. Defender Luiz Felipe remains out as he continues to work his way back following ankle surgery, while midfielder Gonzalo Escalante is also out with a muscular issue.
Milan substitutes: Diogo Dalot, Pierre Kalulu Kyatengwa, Rafael Leao, Ciprian Tatarusanu, Brahim Diaz, Rade Krunic, Sandro Tonali, Samu Castillejo, Soualiho Meite, Jens Hauge, Alessio Romagnoli, Matteo Gabbia.
Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Ismael Bennacer, Franck Kessie; Alexis Saelemaekers, Hakan Calhanoglu, Ante Rebic; Mario Mandzukic.
Lazio substitutes: Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, Marco Parolo, Andreas Pereira, Wesley Hoedt, Danilo Cataldi, Thomas Strakosha, Vedat Muriqi, Patric, Mateo Musacchio, Mohamed Fares, Marco Alia.
Lazio XI (3-5-2): Pepe Reina; Adam Marusic, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan Radu; Manuel Lazzari, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Lucas Leiva, Luis Alberto, Senad Lulic; Joaquin Correa, Ciro Immobile.
Lazio and Milan are both involved in a fierce battle for Champions League qualification next season, with just two points separating the four clubs behind league leaders Inter. Lazio are eight points off the pace in sixth, but have two games in hand on all the teams above them apart from tonight's opponents Milan, who would move clear of the pack and into second with a victory.
