Melbourne derby player ratings: Niedermeier's nightmare
Despite Georg Niedermeier's early sending off, Melbourne Victory rallied from a goal down to hold Melbourne City to a 1-1 draw.
Kosta Barbarouses was the hero for Victory as City struggled to make the most of their numerical advantage.
Here's how every player rated in the third Melbourne derby of the season...
-
Lawrence Thomas
Rating: 6/10
Went the right way for the penalty but couldn't get a hand to it. Rarely tested and was saved twice by the woodwork when beaten.
-
Corey Brown
Rating: 7/10
Very solid down the left flank.
-
-
Thomas Deng
Rating: 7/10
Stepped up after the sending off and seemed to time most of his challenges very well.
-
Georg Niedermeier
Rating: 0/10
Picked up two early yellow cards and gave away a silly penalty with his last involvement. A night to forget for the German.
-
-
Leigh Broxham
Rating: 7/10
Drafted in at right-back and did what was asked of him without too much fuss.
-
Raul Baena
Rating: 6/10
A solid shift from the Spaniard, who was forced to cover extra ground in Niedermeier's absence.
-
Terry Antonis
Rating: 6/10
Kept things ticking in midfield and another that did well to plug the hole left by having just 10 men.
-
Keisuke Honda
Rating: 7/10
Not at his sharpest but showed great fight with his team under the pump and picked up the assist for Barbarouses' goal.
-
-
James Troisi
Rating: 5/10
Sacrificed at half-time having failed to make much of an impact.
-
Kosta Barbarouses
Rating: 8/10
Took his goal very well on a tight angle and was always asking questions of City's defence.
-
Elvis Kamsoba
Rating: N/A
Pulled off after Neidermeier's sending off. Shame he didn't get more minutes.
-
Melbourne Victory subs
Ola Toivonen: 6/10
James Donachie: 7/10
Storm Roux: 6/10
-
-
Eugene Galekovic
Rating: 5/10
Should have done better with the goal which was Victory's first shot of the game.
-
Scott Jamieson
Rating: 6/10
A typical performance from the City skipper. Full of running but end product left a bit to be desired.
-
Curtis Good
Rating: 6/10
A solid performance but perhaps could have done more to usher out Barbarouses for the goal.
-
Bart Schenkeveld
Rating: 7/10
A polished performance that you've come to expect from the Dutch defender.
-
-
Ritchie de Laet
Rating: 6/10
Not as sharp going forward as he has been previously this season, but strong enough at the back.
-
Kearyn Baccus
Rating: 5/10
A few sloppy touches and wayward passes in midfield as he failed to capitalise on his side's numerical advantage.
-
Rostyn Griffiths
Rating: 7/10
Made his presence felt and was unlucky not to double City's lead late in the first-half with an effort that struck the post.
-
Luke Brattan
Rating: 7/10
Another that hit the woodwork and gave City's attack a bit of zip moving forward.
-
-
Florin Berenguer
Rating: 5/10
Wasn't incisive enough against 10-men and was withdrawn early in the second-half.
-
Shayon Harrison
Rating: 6/10
Some decent hold-up play but failed to pull the trigger on occasion and summed up City's hesitance in the final third.
-
Jamie Maclaren
Rating: 7/10
Took and won his penalty well but wasn't at his sharpest in front of goal.
