The Zesco United defender says that Stars will need mental strength to overcome a much-fancied Ghana on Saturday at the Kasarani Stadium.
“We are playing one of the best teams and if we’ll need to be mentally strong to pull a win because we are at home and for us to revive our chances of qualifying for Afcon then we must just win,” Owino said after he linked up with the rest of the squad.
At the same time, influential midfielder Francis Kahata has called on Kenyan fans to turn up in large number for the all-important tie.
“I don’t remember the last time we played at home but the support from the fans will be important for the players who will get the chance to don the jersey and hopefully, our fans will return home with a smile on the face if we pull a victory,” the Gor Mahia midfielder noted.
Ghana are leaders of Group F with three points following an opening day 5-0 thrashing of Ethiopia, while Kenya are second from bottom with no point after losing to Sierra Leone 2-1.
