With their hopes of Asian Champions League progression in the balance, this was not the start Melbourne Victory were after against Ulsan Hyundai.
Level on points with the South Koreans after a win in their last ACL outing against Kawasaki, Victory found themselves immediately on the back foot with a poor clearance from Lawrence Thomas handing Ulsan the easiest of openers.
While questions must be asked of Victory's defenders that put their keeper in such a position, it's the shot stopper that inevitably bears the brunt of the error.
It didn't get any easier for him either with Hyundai doubling their lead in the 20th minute through Jong-Eun who took advantage of some poor defending.
And before the break Ulsan all but wrapped up the contest with Mislav Orsic's powerful strike from outside the box making it 3-0.
Melbourne Victory's final group game will see them play Group F leaders Shanghai SIPG on April 18.
