Gareth Bale’s fine start to the season continued this past weekend as he struck both goals in his side’s 2-2 draw at Villarreal.
The Welshman appeared to be on his way out from Real Madrid in the summer but now looks set to play a leading role for the capital club, with even a late dismissal for two yellow cards doing little to dampen the mood around his resurgence.
Elsewhere in La Liga on Matchday 3, Real Betis bagged their first win of the season in a 2-1 victory over Leganes that was inspired by Nabil Fekir.
The Frenchman is already looking like one of the potential stars of the season and pounced to grab the winner on the hour mark.
But goal of the weekend arrived in Bilbao, where Raul Garcia sent a glorious chip over Real Sociedad goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya to secure local bragging rights in a 2-0 win for Athletic.
