Villarreal forward Cedric Bakambu has been named La Liga Player of the month for October.

The 26-year-old scored six goals in five league outings to help Javi Calleja’s men maintain an unbeaten run in the Spanish top-flight last month.

Bakambu scored a hat-trick against Eibar on October 1, followed up with a brace in the Yellow Submarine's victory at Girona on October 15 before grabbing a goal in a 4-0 thrashing of Las Palmas the following week.

The former Sochaux and Bursaspor talisman saw off competition from Barcelona’s goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Valencia’s Gonçalo Guedes to win the monthly accolade.

The right-footed player who has scored eight goals in 11 league games this season will receive the award at the Estadio de la Ceramica before Villarreal's league game against Sevilla on Sunday.
