England’s U20 side are revelling in World Cup glory courtesy of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Freddie Woodman.

The Everton forward netted the only goal of the game in a final showdown with Venezuela to secure a historic victory.

The contest would, however, have headed to extra-time were it not for the exploits of Newcastle goalkeeper Woodman between the sticks.

He produced a smart one-handed save to keep out a late penalty, which had been awarded with the aid of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

With the on-field officials unsure as to whether the right decision had been made, they called on technology to confirm the ruling.

Woodman was not kept waiting long and held his nerve regardless as he beat away an effort from Adalberto Penaranda to keep England in front and on course for a first FIFA tournament success since 1966.
