PKNS FC have announced their mid-season signing of Kelantan defender Nik Shahrul Azim Abdul Halim on Friday night.

The 27-year old made nine league appearances for the Red Warriors this season, and played in seven league matches for them last season. Altogether, he has won the league title once, the FA Cup twice and the Malaysia Cup once with Kelantan.

The Kota Bharu-based club are in the process of reducing the size of their wage bill, and have been releasing their experienced players to other Malaysian clubs, such as Malaysia goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat.

"Nik Shahrul has been allowed to join PKNS. We thank him for everything, (and we are doing it) for the sake of his career. Thank you also to PKNS," wrote Kelantan president Bibi Ramjani Ilias Khan on her Facebook page on the same day.

The Red Ants meanwhile are reported to be interested in bringing back Argentinian forward Gabriel Guerra in the current transfer window, according to Berita Harian.

The 25-year old played for PKNS in 2015 and 2016, helping them win promotion to the top tier and reach the 2016 FA Cup final, before he left for JDT in 2017. The Argentine then departed the Southern Tigers at the end of the season.

Bibi meanwhile announced the signing of Tunisian defender Alaeddine Bouslimi on Friday. No details of his signing has been made available, but Alaeddine has previously played mainly in the Tunisian top tier.

Brazilian defender Cassio de Jesus has been the only foreign player on the Kelantan roster to be playing in all of their past five matches.

Meanwhile in the Malaysia Premier League, Pulau Pinang have announced the release of Danish forward Ken Ilso Larsen by mutual termination on Saturday.

The former Kedah player announced his desire to leave the club he joined in the pre-season on Friday night, and the club issued an official statement on the following day.

In the same announcement, the club also revealed that winger Azinee Taib has been axed, while defender Arman Fareez Ali has been loaned out to UiTM FC.
