The Paris-Saint Germain goalkeeper has been capped 176 times by his country. Buffon holds the record of having the most caps of any Italian player. He won the World Cup with the Azzurri in 2006. Simply a living legend.

Fabio Cannavaro

Famous for leading Italy to their 2006 World Cup win, Cannavaro has 136 caps to boast. 2006 will always have dear memories for the former Parma defender as he also won the Ballon d'Or, beating fellow compatriot Buffon.

Paolo Maldini

A stalwart of AC Milan and the national team, Maldini has 126 caps to his name. He participated in three World Cups but never won the famous trophy. His club record was better having won seven Serie A titles and five Champions League trophies.
