The Women’s National Team to compete in AFF Women’s Championship 2018

Women’s National Team will be in action from 30 June to 13 July 2018 in Palembang, Indonesia

Singapore’s women national team will be competing in the AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) Women’s Championship in Palembang, Indonesia from 30 June to 13 July 2018. The Lionesses are drawn into Group B alongside Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia.

Group A contains Thailand,Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia and Timor Leste. Singapore will kick-off their campaign first by taking on Indonesia on 1st of July at the Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium. This will be followed by Philippines in their second match and Vietnam in the subsequent one. Their final group game will see them take on Myanmar.

Women’s National Team Head Coach K. Balagumaran is confident that his charges can go all the way in the tournament after witnessing his team’s preparation in a training camp in Hanoi last month. The road to glory for the Lionesses will no doubt be challenging with the likes of regional powerhouses Thailand and Vietnam competing but there is no doubt they could still spring a surprise or two. As the age old adage goes “the ball is round”.
