Thabo Nthethe and Asavela Mbekile to leave Mamelodi Sundowns

Pitso Mosimane has been overlooking the two players so far this season, and with their contracts expiring, they will now be looking to move elsewhere

Mamelodi Sundowns will lose both Thabo Nthethe and Asavela Mbekile at the of the current campaign.

Tim Sukazi, who represents the two players, says he will be using the next five months to find new teams for his clients.

The contracts of Nthethe and Mbekile are expiring in June 2018, and Sukazi said the fact that they're not playing leaves him with no option but to look elsewhere.

Nthethe was close to joining SuperSport United during the January transfer window, but the proposed move fell through on deadline day, Sukazi confirmed.

“It was very close, but it fell through right at the end,” Sukazi told Far Post.

“There were some delays. In the morning (January 31), it was hot, hot, hot, but SuperSport were playing on the same day (against AmaZulu). So, it made it difficult for Stan (Matthews) to make the call,” he said.

“Nthethe’s contract is ending and he’s not playing at Sundowns. It’s the same situation with Mbekile. They have to leave at the end of the season and we will be using this time to find them homes,” Sukazi concluded.

Nthethe has featured just twice for the Brazilians this season, while Mbekile is yet to play for Pitso Mosimane so far this term.

With Nthethe seemingly on the radar of Matsatsantsa, it remains to be seen if the Tshwane giants will renew their interest in him ahead of the new season, especially after both Clayton Daniels and Morgan Gould were handed contract extensions by the club.

Mbekile on the other hand, was previously linked with a possible move to Orlando Pirates, but nothing came out of the reports as the club decided to keep him.
