Sylvester Igboun ends goal drought as Ufa seal Europa League place

The forward ended his dry spell in front of goal to help the Townspeople secure continental action next term

Sylvester Igboun was on target to help Ufa seal a Europa League place in their 5-0 thrashing of Tosno in Sunday’s Russian Premier League encounter.

The 27-year-old striker last scored for his side in December, and after firing blanks in seven games, he got back to goalscoring duties, netting the third goal as Sergei Semak’s men cruised to victory over their helpless visitors.

Dmitry Zhivoglyadov put the Townspeople in front at the half-hour mark and two minutes later Dmitri Sysuev doubled the lead.

In the 50th minute, Igboun found the net to give the hosts a comfortable lead. Ivan Paurevic and Zhivoglyadov scored late in the game to complete the rout.

The win saw the Neftyanik Stadium outfit nick a Europa League spot ahead of closest rivals Arsenal Tula after gathering 43 points from 30 matches.

Igboun ended the campaign with seven goals and four assists in 26 league appearances.
